Playing in the Waves

Sunday and Monday were spent sitting at home while the baby Typhoon Haikui passed. Lots of rain and some wind, but nothing too bad. We just couldn't go anywhere. Today the rain slowed somewhat. The kids needed to get out and run. Diana and I decided to go to the beach and look for what treasures might have been washed up. We didn't find anything because the ocean was still churning. That didn't stop the kids from enjoying the waves! The waves were huge, especially the ones breaking out a little farther on the reef. And yes, we watched the kids very closely! It was so humid that my lens kept fogging up!

Today is the last day my little man is 3. He is very excited for his birthday tomorrow! I on the other hand will hold on to these last few years with my precious 3 year old. Four sounds way too old!

I took so many pictures of the kids playing in the waves. Some of them are so funny. You can click on them to see them bigger.

What a wonderful day. We came home and got cleaned up. Now to watch, "The Lorax" and eat popcorn.

Lowtide at Sunabe Beach

On Saturday we met the girls at Sunabe Beach (Dolphin Park) ready to search for sea creatures. The kids each had their new fish net and mini aquarium, they were ready! I don't think Cooper could have been any more excited! There were fish everywhere but they were small and very fast.

At times they gave up on catching fish and choose to collect crabs. You had to be very patient to catch a fish. They were so small. Diana however ended up being the expect fisherwoman. The kids were very happy each time she said she got another one.

Our most exciting find were these tiny neon blue fish. They were stuck everywhere in so many little tidepools. They were so hard to catch though. They hide in the cracks and caves in the coral and rocks. Those fish were so pretty though and of course Diana caught quite a few.

After the kids were worn out and hungry we had pizza for dinner. Then the girls came back to our house and we had a sleepover. Since Josh and Max are both gone, Diana and I promised to have a few sleepovers together. The kids were all so excited. Mine even picked up their rooms without being asked, that is a first!! We had a great evening and stayed up very late. I'm so happy to have such wonderful friends here. They are our Okinawan family!

Playing at the Kurashki Dam

Last week we spent a few hours cooling off at the Kurashki Dam. The kids splashed and played. We got tiny fish and everyone had a lot of fun.

Chatan Seaport Village Festival & Fireworks

Last month we went to the Seaport Village festival with our new friends Jackson, Brady, and Laura. It was a hot and humid day. The kids ran around the beach and all had some yummy treats while we waited for it to get dark. The fireworks were amazing, especially the huge ones that exploded on the water. It was a wonderful Okinawan evening!

Emma's 6 Year Old Photos

She was so happy her kimono still fit. We went downstairs one evening and took some photos. She was having so much fun. Can you believe she is 6 years old already? My baby girl is growing up way too fast!!!

Emma's 6th Birthday

Joshua made it home a few days before Emma's 6th birthday, she was so excited! She had a nice long birthday spanning several days. One day she went out with Daddy and got to pick a new Barbie. She also got to go to Daddy's work, which is a big deal. She is the only one that has been inside now. Another day I surprised her with her first manicure with her friends Hannah and Addie. She was so excited. We had a great girlie afternoon.

For her party she decided on a Princess and the Frog theme, which completely surprised me. We had the McMillan's over for dinner and ice cream sundaes. She had a wonderful birthday playing with her brothers and best friends.

That weekend we went to the Oura Wan Cottages and stayed overnight. We had one cottage and the McMillan's had one right next door. The kids played in one while we were in the other. They loved pretending to have their own house. We played at the beach. We BBQ and everyone stayed up very late!!! It was so much fun, really, it was, as you can see, I didn't even get my camera out once. Emma had a very special birthday week!
